About the city

PAG

The town of Pag is located on the island of the same name in northern Dalmatia and is known for its rich cultural heritage, centuries-old salt-making tradition and distinctive rocky landscape. The present-day town was built in the 15th century according to an urban plan designed by Juraj Dalmatinac, while its historic centre is characterised by a regular layout of streets and squares, as well as valuable religious monuments. Pag is widely known for Pag lace, which is inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, as well as Pag cheese, one of Croatia’s most recognisable gastronomic products. The combination of the sea, dry-stone walls and Mediterranean vegetation creates a distinctive landscape that makes this part of the Adriatic unique.

In addition to exploring the historic centre, visitors can discover numerous beaches, cycling and hiking trails, as well as other places on the island, such as Novalja, Kolan and Povljana. Thanks to the Pag Bridge, the island is connected to the mainland by road, providing convenient access throughout the year. Pag is connected by regular bus services with Zadar, Zagreb, Rijeka, Karlovac and other Croatian cities, making bus travel a practical option for visitors arriving on the island or continuing their journey to other destinations.

About the city

KARLOVAC

Karlovac is located in central Croatia, at the confluence of four rivers – the Korana, Kupa, Mrežnica and Dobra – which is why it is known as the city on four rivers. Founded in the 16th century as a Renaissance fortress, its distinctive star-shaped historic centre still reflects the carefully planned urban design of that period. In addition to its rich cultural heritage, the city is surrounded by green spaces, riverside promenades and parks ideal for relaxation and recreation. Notable attractions include Dubovac Castle, Aquatika – the only freshwater aquarium in Croatia – and the popular swimming areas along the Korana River.

Thanks to its location at the crossroads of major transport routes between continental Croatia and the Adriatic coast, Karlovac is an important transport and tourist hub. From here, visitors can easily continue their journey towards Plitvice Lakes, Gorski Kotar or the coastal cities, as well as explore the city’s own rich cultural and natural heritage. Regular bus services connect Karlovac with Zagreb, Rijeka, Pula, Zadar, Split and many other Croatian cities, making bus travel a convenient option throughout the year.
