About the city
KRK
The town of Krk is located on the southwestern coast of the island of the same name and is one of the oldest urban centres on the Croatian Adriatic. More than two thousand years of history are reflected in its stone-paved streets, town walls and numerous cultural landmarks. Among the best-known sights are Krk Cathedral, the Frankopan Castle and the picturesque waterfront, which is at the heart of the town’s daily life. The town is surrounded by well-maintained beaches, coastal promenades and coves, while its mild Mediterranean climate and natural surroundings attract visitors throughout the year. Local restaurants offer specialities of Kvarner cuisine, fresh fish, seafood and products characteristic of the island of Krk.
In addition to exploring the historic town centre, Krk is an excellent base for discovering other destinations on the island, including Baška, Malinska, Njivice and Vrbnik, as well as numerous natural and cultural attractions. Thanks to the Krk Bridge and a well-developed network of bus routes, Krk is easily accessible from different parts of Croatia throughout the year. Regular bus connections link the town with Rijeka, Zagreb, Pula, Karlovac and other major cities, making bus travel a practical option for reaching the island and continuing your journey through the Kvarner region.
