About the city
SOLIN
Solin is a town located just outside Split, at the mouth of the Jadro River, and is one of the most significant historical destinations in Croatia. The ancient city of Salona was the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia, and its archaeological remains are now among the most valuable monuments of ancient heritage in this part of Europe. Visitors can explore the remains of an amphitheatre, early Christian basilicas, city walls and other archaeological sites that bear witness to the town’s rich history. Solin is also known for the source of the Jadro River, its green parks and promenades, which provide pleasant spaces for relaxation, while the local cuisine reflects the traditions of central Dalmatia.
Thanks to its immediate proximity to Split, Solin is an excellent base for exploring central Dalmatia. Split, Trogir, Klis, Kaštela and numerous natural attractions in the surrounding area can all be reached within a short time. The town is connected by regular bus services with Split, Šibenik, Zadar, Zagreb, Rijeka and other Croatian cities, making bus travel a practical option for reaching Solin and continuing your journey along the Dalmatian coast or towards inland Croatia.
