About the city
KRALJEVICA
Kraljevica is a coastal town located at the entrance to Bakar Bay, near Rijeka and the bridge connecting the mainland with the island of Krk. Thanks to its location at the meeting point of Kvarner and the Croatian Littoral, the town has historically played an important role in maritime activities and shipbuilding. Its cultural heritage includes two Frankopan castles – the Old Castle of the Zrinski and Frankopan families and Nova Kraljevica Castle – as well as a picturesque harbour and a well-maintained seaside promenade. The surrounding area features numerous coves, beaches and viewpoints overlooking Kvarner Bay, while local cuisine includes fresh fish, seafood and specialities typical of the coastal region.
Kraljevica is a convenient starting point for exploring Kvarner and the Croatian Littoral. Nearby destinations include Rijeka, Crikvenica, Novi Vinodolski and the island of Krk, while good transport connections also provide easy access to Gorski Kotar and other destinations in the region. Regular bus services connect Kraljevica with Rijeka, Zagreb, Crikvenica, Senj and other Croatian cities, making bus travel a practical way to reach the town and continue your journey along the coast or inland.
